Is it easy to shuck this WD external drive? - [H]ard|Forum
Oct 29, 2004 · Shucking WD 10TB Elements USB Drives. All my latest shuck drives had an issue intenteded by WD, and its the 3.3v reset, the drives wont work on most sata power connectos due to this issue, for me required to use molex to sata power to make them work my server so just be warned if you dont see the drive being recognized test this before.

Mar 3, 2008 · External WD drives worked fine in USB 2.0 mode but didn't work in USB 3.0 mode. I really can't remember which driver fixed it (happened early last year)The next few AW17s worked without issues though, so I'm guessing they got that driver sorted out for that. Aug 31, 2014. #10.

Seagate desktop HDDs all have 0C (operating ambient minimum) to 60C (operating drive case maximum), and the same -40C to 70C non-operating. while their enterprise HDDs all seemed to be 5C to 55C operating. Dec 4, 2020 · Pretty much all shucked drives are 5400 rpm drives, I’m unaware of any that yield 7200. I’ve shucked about 2 dozen of them. Technically some of them are 7200rpm but they’re gimped to 5400, its alleged that they couldnt handle QA at the higher speeds so they slowed them and stuck them in enclosures. This one is 7200Rpm,

Feb 27, 2006 · WD Black may be the fastest spinning drive in benches, but in real life it makes little difference and much less in gaming. You might shave a couple of seconds here and there but nothing extreme. Actually in many cases SSDs don't make that much of a difference for gaming. Dec 26, 2017. #5.

Dec 20, 2016 · Idle 2.7 bels, Operating 2.8 bels = 27/28 dba idle/seek. 10 TB IronWolfs have: Idle/Seek 28/32 dba. 10 TB WD Red = 20/29 Idle/Seek. But the 8 TB 256 Cache WD RED is 27/29 Idle/Seek. So if I was getting 10 TB IronWolf drives vs the 10 TB Red drives, there's a difference of 8 dba idle and 3 dba seek.

Jan 10, 2007 · 1. For those who need to know, the actual bit size needed to take out the 5 point TORX Security Plus screw in most Seagate external drives is size TP10. If you don't want to waste the money and the effort to find these bits, all you really need is a 2.0 x 65mm flat head screwdriver (or something close).
Beware of WD Red / Red Pro Hard drives if not using Raid / NAS
Nov 18, 2004 · So I have noticed a trent with Western Digital Red / Red Pro hard drives. They fail if you are not using NAS / RAid. I am now batting 1000 on my drives failing every 2 1/2 years. My main usage is not that heavy. I use them mainly as data storage for movies, files, games, pictures. I was under the impression that they would be the best backup drive.
