WASHINGTON, Jan. 5, 2025 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert due to concerns of frozen, raw ground beef products that may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically hard plastic and metal.

If you have a problem with a food product, let FSIS know or find the appropriate public health organization. Report Problem We all have an active role in preventing foodborne illness and protecting public health.

Jan 24, 2025 · Starting November 4, 2024, all export certificates for meat and poultry products (FSIS Form 9060-5 series), excluding casings and egg products, exported to Mexico will be generated through FSIS' Public Health Information System (PHIS) and will be digitally signed.

Aug 16, 2020 · Under the Federal Meat Inspection Act, FSIS is responsible for ensuring that the nation's commercial supply of meat, wholly or in part, from the carcass or parts of any cattle, sheep, swine, and goat, is safe, wholesome, and correctly labeled.
