A first ever senior international goal for promising young striker Michelle Cooper helped the US Women’s National Team (USWNT) to a 2-1 victory over Australia in the SheBelieves Cup on Sunday, setting up a decisive final-game showdown with Japan.

The 2025 six-game, three-matchday tournament will be held from Feb. 20-26. The U.S. Women’s National Team will host Japan (#7 in the current FIFA Women’s World Rankings), Australia (#15) and Colombia (#21) in this year’s tournament.

The chances for the USWNT to win the 2025 SheBelieves Cup are in danger. Despite two consecutive victories against Colombia and Australia, the American ladies trail Japan in the standings due to a goal difference of four.
