A recent series of testing by the Tangipahoa Mosquito Abatement District (TMAD), has led to the detection of 28 mosquito samples of West Nile Virus.

The first case of West Nile virus in Texas this year has been confirmed in a resident of Brazos County, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.
