Storm Éowyn will rip across the country on Friday morning with the entire country hit with Status Red warnings

A tornado warning has been issued ahead of the arrival of Storm Eowyn set to batter UK’s coasts with 100mph winds this weekend.The Met Office issued a rare red warning across Northern Ireland and Scotland which will see winds rapidly during the Friday morning rush hour with peak gusts of 80-90 mph fairly widely and perhaps up to 100 mph along some exposed coasts.

As of 9am on Thursday, there are eight Red Weather Warnings in place from Met Eireann. There is also a Status Orange Wind Warning for all of Ireland from midnight until 4pm tomorrow. The Status Red Weather Warnings are as follows.

Storm Éowyn is barrelling towards the west coast set to bring one of the worst wind storms in decades to Ireland within hours. Met Éireann is urging extreme caution as the severe Status Red storm system threatens to deliver a clattering of 'violent Storm force winds' and gusts above 130km/h.

Met Éireann has issued a red "danger to life" warning for four counties as Storm Éowyn is predicted to bring "powerful and destructive winds" on Friday. Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim, Galwat and Donegal will be under the highest level of weather alert from 3am until 10am on Friday.

The entire country is bracing for Storm Éowyn on Friday as Met Éireann has now issued a Status Red wind warning for all counties. Carlow, Waterford, Kilkenny and Wexford are the latest counties affected by Met Éireann's warnings.

Storm Éowyn – pronounced "ay-oh-win" – is the fifth named storm of the season and is this morning developing rapidly as it moves towards us. It is being fuelled by a very powerful jet stream - fast moving air high in the atmosphere where wind speeds are around 260mph (418km/h).

A Status Red wind warning for Cavan, Monaghan, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow, Roscommon and Tipperary from 6am on Friday until 11am on Friday. A Status Red wind warning for Donegal from 7am on Friday until 2pm on Friday.

A red weather warning has been issued for Northern Ireland on Friday, as dangerous Storm Éowyn heads towards the UK. The red warning for wind, posing a danger to life, has been issued, while an amber warning is in place for parts of Scotland and the north of England,

The whole country will be under a status red "danger to life" warning on Friday as Storm Éowyn is set to bring "severe, damaging, and destructive winds". The storm is set to hit the country in the early hours of Friday morning.
