Two people are starting off 2025 a little richer after a pair of Powerball tickets totaling $300,000 were sold in the Pittsburgh area. The Pennsylvania Lottery says a ticket sold in Washington County and another in Allegheny County each won $150,000.

The lottery jackpot was an estimated $163 million with a cash option of $73.9 million for Monday night's drawing, according to the Powerball website. The jackpot was last won on Dec. 7 when a New York lottery player won a $256 million Powerball jackpot.

When asked what plans he has with the winnings, he said, “I would give this money up if I could get just one more Christmas with my mother.”

Three winning Powerball tickets from Saturday’s drawing were sold in Massachusetts. Two of the winning tickets were sold at a 7-Eleven in Quincy. They each won $150,000, which means they matched four numbers and the power ball. The other ticket was sold at Global Montello Group Corporation in Seekonk. It was for $50,000.
