San Diego County residents who want to get rid of expired, unused or unwanted drugs will have the chance to safely discard them Saturday at multiple locations during National Drug Take Back Day.

It’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The 28th annual event is happening nationwide from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Drug Enforcement Administration began the initiative in 2010 to provide easy, anonymous opportunities to properly dispose of medications that are highly susceptible to misuse and theft.

Law enforcement offices will host prescription drug collections in cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Takeback Day on Saturday.
