The Rapid Support Forces, a paramilitary group that has been at war with the Sudanese military for over two years, said Thursday it has agreed to a humanitarian truce proposed by a U.S.-led mediator group known as the Quad.

The United States is terminating South Sudan’s designation for temporary protected status, which for years allowed people from the East African country to remain in the U.S. legally and escape armed conflict back home.
