( PINPOINT WEATHER) — The first day of fall is today and it will not feel anything like the season. We are starting mild this morning, with temperatures in the mid to upper 60s. The fall season officially starts at 8:44 a.m. but later this afternoon we will forget what season it is already.

The heat wave that brought above-normal temperatures to Dallas-Fort Worth over the last few days will finally come to an end Sunday night, according to forecasts. Sunday — which is the first day of fall — will still have highs in the mid 90s but a cold front approaching North Texas later in the day will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms with it,

While Sunday is the official start of Fall it will still feel like summer in the Midlands with hot and humid conditions the next several afternoons.

Sunday is the first day of fall in the Northern Hemisphere. The northern half of the planet entered the autumnal equinox along with the official change in season at 8:43 a.m. Eastern Time., The National Weather Service said.

It’ll officially be fall but the weather will still have a summer-like feel. Above-average temperatures will take us into Sunday and Monday as highs return to around 90. The humidity won’t be as high as it was in the thick of summer but it’ll certainly hang on enough to make the heat index values rise to the upper 90s.
