Royal Shakespeare Company unveils new adaptation of Roald Dahl's 'The BFG,' plus star casting of Freema Agyeman and Simon Russell Beale.

Playwright Tom Wells will adapt the story about the Big Friendly Giant who captures an orphan named Sophie and brings her back to Giant Country.

Roald Dahl’s The BFG, adapted by the RSC, will run at Chichester Festival Theatre from March 16 to April 12, 2026, following its Stratford-upon-Avon premiere.

Matilda has been performed in 100 cities across the globe since its premiere in Stratford in 2010. The multi-award winning musical is the RSC’s highest ever grossing production by far, and has been delighting audiences in London’s West End for over 13 years.

The stage adaptation by playwright Tom Wells will delight families over the festive period across a 10-week run at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
