Lakers, Mavericks Personnel Joining Luka Doncic on Slovenian Team originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Five-time All-NBA first team Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic will be joined by two new familiar faces on the Slovenian national team.

Conversely, while James' future in L.A. still remains up in the air, it's expected that Doncic will re-sign with the team, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin. The Lakers can offer Doncic a four-year, $229 million extension on Aug. 2, or he can sign a three-year, $165 million extension with a 2028 player option.

Irving had to deal with the after-effects of the Luka Doncic trade, doing his part to keep the Mavericks on the right path before going down with a season-ending ACL injury in March. A year after leading Dallas to the finals, Irving was forced to watch from the sidelines as his team was eliminated in the NBA play-in.
