Lionel Messi won’t play in Inter Miami’s Leagues Cup match against Pumas UNAM on Aug. 6, coach Javier Mascherano announced.

Inter Miami will host the LA Galaxy at Chase Stadium on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. ET/ 4:30 p.m. PT. Inter Miami is 6th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 12–5–6 (points 42) and Galaxy is at the bottom of the Western Conference with a record of 3–15–7 heading into the weekend.

Inter Miami will play Pumas on Aug. 6 in their final match of the Leagues Cup group stage. Inter Miami will play two regular-season matches – at Orlando City on Aug. 10, and at home against the L.A. Galaxy on Aug. 16 – before the Leagues Cup quarterfinals on Aug. 19 and 20, if they qualify for the knockout stage.
