A federal judge said Wednesday he intends to halt the Trump administration from freezing federal grant funding, despite officials rescinding an initial Office of Management and Budget memo on that effort earlier in the day.

Trump’s administration rescinded a memo freezing most federal grants and loans after heavy criticism and a court block. The Office of Management and Budget had directed federal agencies to halt disbursements for programs that didn't align with Trump’s agenda.

A judge in Washington, D.C., sided with plaintiffs who claimed the White House’s freezing of billions of dollars in congressionally-approved funding violated the law.
