At least they got a point? On Sunday evening, the Edmonton Oilers played the second game of their Pacific Coast weekend back-to-back, falling 4-3 to the Vancouver Canucks and moving to 4-4-2 for the season.

As Evander Kane of the Edmonton Oilers and Brad Marchand of the Florida Panthers went toe-to-toe in the Stanley Cup final last spring, it was learned the two players’ fathers had been junior-hockey teammates in Nova Scotia with the Dartmouth Arrows back in 1981.

The Vancouver Sun reported that Kane had dinner with FBI Director Kash Patel on Saturday, before the Canucks played the Washington Capitals in the US Capitol on Sunday. Canucks fans have not been impressed and are expressing their displeasure online.

Evander Kane faced familiar faces when the Vancouver Canucks went up against the Edmonton Oilers in their first preseason game last Sunday.

Oilers fans gave Kane a nice applause as he was welcomed back with a scoreboard banner and announcement during the second TV timeout of the first period. That was the first time a returning player had been acknowledged in-game during the Jeff Jackson era.

The Edmonton Oilers roster went through a variety of changes in the offseason. They lost some older veterans and brought in some young guns to replace them.

After seven games in 2024-25, Edmonton’s five-on-five goals per 60 of 1.57 was also near the bottom of the league. The club recovered from there; in the final 75 games, it posted 2.56 goals per 60.
