Samsung didn't tease its tri-fold device at Unpacked yesterday, but Samsung mobile chief TM Roh has revealed a launch window.

Samsung on Wednesday announced three new foldable phones in its latest push to popularize what the company believes is the future of smartphones.

Rumors have been swirling about the imminent release of a so-called "Galaxy G Fold" with three screens. Now, a Samsung executive appears to have confirmed their validity.

At a press conference, Samsung's smartphone division head - TM Roh confirmed the existence of their tri-fold phone project and said that they want to launch it before the end of the year.

Compared to more traditional smartphones, foldables often compromise on camera performance because of space constraints; each half of the phone is usually substantially thinner than the typical candybar phone.
