Shares in Samsung Electronics extended declines to a fourth straight session on Wednesday, hitting their lowest level in more than four years.

SEOUL (Reuters) - Shares in Samsung Electronics, the world's top memory chip maker, fell on Wednesday to their lowest level in more than four years amid worries about the impact of U.S. tariffs under a new Donald Trump administration, analysts said.

South Korean tax laws stipulate that taxes are only paid on profits, and with Samsung’s losses, no corporate tax was due for the fiscal year. Consequently, Samsung did not submit any tax payments in March 2024 based on its performance in 2023.
