The Brewers are in hamburger heaven. The team picked up its 12th straight win on Wednesday in a 12-5 victory over the Pirates, securing free burgers for the entire state of Wisconsin from local chain George Webb and putting the Brewers on the cusp of tying a franchise record for consecutive wins.
The 13-0 start in 1987— which included Juan Nieves throwing the first no-hitter in team history in win No. 9 — stood as the franchise's longest winning streak in a season until this year's Brewers surpassed it Saturday.
The Brewers came to close to winning free burgers earlier this season when they had an 11-game winning streak from July 6 to July 21, but lost the 12th game 1–0 to the Mariners. They have won free burgers for fans twice, in 1987 and 2018.
The restaurant chain made a pact years ago to hand out free eats if the Brewers won 12 games in a row, which they did last week.
