A cold front sweeping Texas this weekend will bring severe weather risks, including hail and flooding, to major cities. Thunderstorm chances linger all week.

Storm surveys are underway following a night of severe weather across North Texas. As of Monday afternoon, at least one tornado has been confirmed near the City of Gordon, located about 66 miles west of Fort Worth. Gordon ISD canceled classes for the week due to extensive damage on campus from the storms.

At least nine tornadoes have been confirmed in Texas following the severe storms that swept through the state Sunday.

Two EF-1 tornadoes were reported, which means they had wind gusts between 86-110 miles per hour. Both were in Palo Pinto County. The first tornado touched down about two miles north of Mingus and its path was about half a mile long, the weather service said. Its wind speeds peaked at 105 miles per hour.

The highest chances of severe weather will be in North Texas, but chances will stretch into the Texas Hill Country as well.

After severe weather on Thursday night, Hays County got all sorts of damage in both neighborhoods and at the airport.

An EF-1 tornado touched down in and near Gordon on May 18. The National Weather Service Fort Worth confirmed the tornado on Monday, May 19, citing estimated peak winds of 105 mph. An EF-1 rating is assigned for tornadoes with estimated peak winds between 86 and 110 mph.
