Already firmly stuck in at the start of the 2025/26 campaign, Celtic have been drawn against Kazakhstani club Kairat Almaty for the Champions League playoffs, with the first leg set for Wednesday at home.

Johnston started Celtic’s Champions League play-off first leg tie against Kairat Almaty but had his night cut short in the 36th minute. The full-back went down unchallenged with a muscle injury and had to be stretchered off and replaced by Anthony Ralston.

The Celts are off to a good start this season, with two wins in the league and an emphatic 4-1 victory over Falkirk in the Premier Sports Cup already in the bag. And they’re hoping to continue that streak next week as they take on FC Kairat in the UEFA Champions League play-off match at Paradise!
