Adopted and then approved 7-2 by the state Senate's Licensing and Occupations Committee, Senate Bill 202 would ban the sale of hemp-derived beverages, those that contain CBD and/or THC, until the middle of 2026 while the state finds ways to study, understand and regulate products in the same way it does with beer and liquor.

There is little doubt that a ban will sail through the Senate. But its prospects are far less certain in the House.
