Franchise Group, which owns American Freight, announced it is filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy and will be shuttering all of the furniture store's 328 locations.

A furniture and appliance retailer is closing all of its stores following the bankruptcy of its parent company.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — American Freight, a furniture chain store operating across the US, announced it's closing all stores earlier this month. That list includes all 14 Michigan locations, with Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Portage and Battle Creek stores slated to close following a final sale of inventory.

A furniture and appliance store is closing all of its locations across the United States, including four in Colorado. Closing sales began last week.

The Tacoma location of American Freight will close along with the other 327 stores in the United States. The parent company of the nationwide appliance and furniture store, Franchise Group, began Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in federal court in Delaware.

A large furniture chain announced the closure of all of its locations nationwide earlier this month, including many in Virginia and one in Maryland. American Freight has already begun closing down its 328 locations and its online warehouse.

The store closing announcement comes days after American Freight's parent company announced restructuring as part of a bankruptcy filing.
