LG is pushing the future of flexible displays with a new prototype that stretches up to 50% beyond its original size. The screen starts at 12 inches and stretches to 18 inches, but its 100 ppi pixel density lags behind modern smartphones.

LG Display has recently announced a new version of its unique stretchable display with improved elasticity and durability. The 12-inch prototype can now be stretched up to 18 inches without being destroyed in the process,

LG is supposing the future will be full of such flexible displays, and its latest rendition of the concept screen is capable of stretching up to 50% of its normal length, mainly thanks to the same material used in contact lenses.

Imagine pulling a phone with a 12-inch screen from your pocket and stretching it to 18 inches. That's exactly what LG's new stretchable display promises.

LG Display has previously released a stretchable display with a 20% elongation rate. However, the newest release could extend up to 50%.
