Illinois House Republicans filed a lawsuit over the Democratic-drawn legislative map, arguing it violates the state Constitution.

Republicans in the Illinois House say the state’s current legislative map is unconstitutional and illegally favors Democrats, and the GOP is asking the state’s Supreme Court to intervene.

The top Republican in the Illinois House of Representatives sued to invalidate the chamber’s Democratic-approved district map, saying it was a product of “extreme partisan gerrymandering.”
