Smith and partner Cheryl Burke polished their routines for several days at the Ott studio on Harold Street. The school, in its 66th year, also has a studio in Chesapeake.

Burke was also the first female pro to win the series. Beyond “Dancing With the Stars”, Burke briefly served as head coach on “Dance Moms,” replacing Abby Lee Miller in 2017.
