Two men were successfully rescued after they fell through the ice while fishing on a southern Minnesota lake Tuesday. According to the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and fire and rescue crews were called to Madison Lake just after 1 p.m. The men were reportedly 1,600 feet from the lake’s shore when they fell through the ice.

The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office says emergency responders were called to Madison Lake around 1 PM after receiving reports that a man had fallen through the ice about 1600 feet from shore. Madison Lake is located about 10 miles east of Mankato.

Two men in the 70’s were rescued from the water of Madison Lake after falling through the ice Tuesday. According to a release from the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office, just after 1:00, deputies, conservation officers and personnel from Madison Lake Fire and Mayo Ambulance responded to the DNR access area of Madison Lake to assist with a man that had fallen through the ice approximately 1600 feet from shore.
