Three Alabama hospitals will stop delivering babies, leaving two counties without birthing hospitals and a predominantly Black area of Birmingham without a maternity unit.

The Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital in the city, also said it was supporting the infant’s family at the time of the tragedy.
