The controversy has also drawn political reactions with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu accusing the previous YSRCP government of mishandling temple affairs.

The VHP secretary-general demanded a thorough probe into the Tirupati laddu case and legal action against those involved in it. VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal also demanded that the Tirupati temple and all other temples be freed from government control across the country.

The Tirupati Laddu, also called the ‘Srivari Laddu’, has been the main offering at the temple for more than 300 years. The newly-elected TDP government alleged that the the previous YSRCP government of "adulterating" the laddu.

Temples in Karnataka have now been ordered to mandatorily use only Nadhini ghee of the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) for making laddoos or any other type of sweets as offerings.
