Israel stationed tanks outside Jenin refugee camp on Monday (February 24), one day after tanks were sent into the Israeli-occupied West Bank for the first time in more than 20 years.

The move came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered a stop to the release of Palestinian prisoners and detainees.

Palestinian militants said on Monday that an unusual deployment of Israeli tanks in the occupied West Bank, part of a major offensive that has displaced tens of thousands, may be a step toward annexation.
