ANN ARBOR, MI - Santa Ono’s temporary successor comes from within the University of Michigan community. Domenic Grasso, the chancellor for the Dearborn campus, was selected as the university’s interim president, officials announced Thursday, May 8. The decision came after a closed meeting by the Board of Regents.

Grasso replaces Santa Ono, who announced on May 4 his decision to step down to take the role of president at the University of Florida.

University of Michigan President Santa Ono announced on Sunday that he has been selected as the sole finalist for the presidency of the University of Florida and plans to take the role later this summer after the appointment is approved.
