Extreme weather killed at least 60 people in northern China over the past week, with 31 deaths in an elderly care home in Beijing's hilly Miyun district in one of the deadliest floods to have hit the Chinese capital in years.

At least 38 people have reportedly died in China due to severe floods, which are causing structural damage and power outages across the east and north. Amid the natural disaster, more than 80,000 people have been evacuated.

Heavy rain killed more than 30 people and forced authorities to evacuate tens of thousands as swaths of northern China were lashed by torrential downpours that sparked landslides and flooding, state media said Tuesday.
