Tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad remained high on Thursday after India’s assault on parts of Punjab and Pakistan-administered Kashmir – igniting fears as both nations stand on the brink of a wider conflict.

Weeks later, on May 7, India launched Operation Sindoor and targeted terrorist camps in Pakistan. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif denied funding terrorists and claimed that the Operation Sindoor has claimed civilian lives in Pakistan.

Tensions have risen between the nuclear-armed neighbors since an attack on Hindu tourists in Indian Kashmir last month.
