The Arizona Diamondbacks dropped the Fourth of July matchup against the Kansas City Royals by a score of 9-3 at Chase Field on Friday night. A rocky start and little relief from the mound doomed the D-Backs on Friday night as they dropped the series opener to the Kansas City Royals.

Diamondbacks starter Eduardo Rodriguez gave up one run in 5 1/3 innings last time out, making it five consecutive starts allowing two runs or fewer.

The Kansas City Royals rolled into town sitting on a powder keg. Their dormant offense needed the right environment to ignite and the right player to light a spark. Vinnie Pasquantino answered the call in the Royals’ 9-3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. He hit two home runs and recorded a career-high six RBIs.
