Kalen DeBoer and Ryan Grubb are at the drawing board trying to figure out what approach Alabama football will take in their run game to open the 2025 season after temporarily losing senior tailback Jam Miller to an upper-body injury in the Crimson Tide’s latest scrimmage of fall camp.

Following Alabama's second and final scrimmage of fall camp, head coach Kalen DeBoer provided an update on two key pieces in the trenches.

Early Sunday, coach Kalen DeBoer confirmed a report from Will Miller of Sports Illustrated that starting tailback Jam Miller had sustained an upper-body injury during the second scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday.

Head coach Kalen DeBoer and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb had hinted throughout the offseason that Simpson was leading the race. Their belief was reinforced after the first preseason scrimmage, where Simpson’s control of the offense and poise under pressure stood out compared to the other candidates.
