Lebanon's Hezbollah will bury its former leader Hassan Nasrallah on Sunday nearly five months after he was killed in an Israeli airstrike, in a mass funeral aimed at showing political strength after the group emerged badly weakened from last year's war.

Streets in Beirut are lined with banners as thousands are expected to gather at the Camille Chamoun Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Hezbollah began firing rockets, drones and missiles into Israel the day after Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack out of Gaza ignited the war there. The Israel-Hezbollah conflict boiled over into all-out war in September as Israel carried out massive waves of airstrikes and killed most of the militant group’s senior leaders.

In its Islamist fanaticism and pathological hatred of Israel, anything in Hamas's power invariably becomes a weapon.
