The Indianapolis Colts might not say it publicly, but their experiment with quarterback Anthony Richardson has reached its conclusion. By naming Daniel Jones as the Week 1 starter over Richardson, the Colts have essentially admitted that the fourth overall pick in the 2023 draft simply doesn't have a future in Indianapolis.

Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. received the news on Tuesday that he lost the quarterback competition to Daniel Jones and will be the backup in Indianapolis in 2025. As a result, his future with the organization is up in the air. Richardson’s agent, Deiric Jackson, spoke to ESPN’s Stephen Holder about what the future could hold.

The Rams could trade for Richardson this upcoming offseason, and have him learn under Stafford before giving him a bump in pay to be the starter in 2027 -- when he turns 27. Sean McVay is an offensive mind that has gotten the most out of all his quarterbacks. Richardson could be the next one.
