Community members gathered on Monday night to discuss ways to keep families together as the end of Temporary Protected Status for Haitian immigrants approaches. As reported on News Center 7 at 11:00, the NAACP Springfield Branch hosted the town hall at the First Baptist Church to discuss what the Haitian community needs to feel supported.

Bernard Georges, founder of New Bridges for Haitian Success, said ending temporary protected status will send Haitian migrants back to an island racked by gang violence.

As previously promised, President Donald Trump has ordered the Department of Homeland Security to terminate the Temporary Protected Status for over 500,000 Haitian immigrants living in the United States.
