On Thursday, Governor Hochul announced a new, reduced toll to get into Manhattan. The incoming president is not a fan.

Gov. Kathy Hochul is bringing back the congestion pricing program that would charge drivers who enter the busiest parts of Manhattan. But the tolls will be lower than those under the original version of the plan, which she canceled in June, saying that they were too high.

Gov. Kathy Hochul had abruptly paused the toll, which had been slated to go into effect at a base rate of $15 per day back in June.

The governor is renewing plans to start the tolling program, but at discounted rates. Ms. Hochul said it will generate $15 billion for mass transit.

Republicans are set to control both chambers of Congress, and may pursue legislation to end congestion pricing.

Hochul had put the plan on "pause" in June just before the originally proposed toll of $15 was set to take effect.
