The Atlanta Braves have acknowledged the accomplishments of a Boston-era slugger. Wally Berger was inducted into the team Hall of Fame ahead of Saturday's game against the New York Mets. During his induction, he was dubbed as “The original slugger in Braves history.”
The 2022 NL batting champ has transformed into a slugger this season. He’s homered three and driven in eight runs through five games of the Mets’ six-game trip, and he’s only played in three of them. His 11th homer of the season gave Holmes some breathing room to work with.

The Mets beat up on Wentz (4-4), scoring six earned runs in only 3 1/3 innings, and continuing the onslaught against right-hander Erick Fedde, with six off of the right-hander. A 20-hit night for the Mets, every hitter in the starting lineup got a hit, including backup catcher Hayden Senger, who went 2-for-5 with a career-high three RBI.
Last week the Athletics claimed left-handed relief pitcher Jared Shuster off waivers from the Chicago White Sox and optioned him to Triple-A Las Vegas. The 27-year-old was originally selected by the Atlanta Braves in the first round (25th overall) in the 2020 MLB Draft.
