Ahead of its stunning first-round NCAA tournament upset over Clemson, McNeese was in the headlines for head coach Will Wade reportedly agreeing to take the job at NC State after the Cowboys' March Madness run is finished.

McNeese with its boom-boxing viral student manager Amir Khan is dancing its way into the second round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament after downing No. 5 seed Clemson 69-67 on Thursday. The Cowboys held Clemson to just 13 first-half points and never trailed the final 34 minutes of game time.

Khan, whose nickname is “Aura,” first came to prominence in late February, when a video went viral of him leading McNeese out of the locker room to the court for a game while wearing a boombox around his neck and rapping along to “In & Out" by Lud Foe.
