The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the following injury update on forward/center Karl-Anthony Towns, who has been sidelined since Nov. 28 due to a right calf strain: Towns is continuing to progress in his rehabilitation program and has been participating in basketball activities.

Karl-Anthony Towns is under contract for six more years, after agreeing to an extension Friday to remain with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The team announced he signed the deal on July 7. Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns has agreed on a four-year, $224M super max extension, his agent Jessica Holtz of @CAA_Basketball tells ESPN.

Trailing in the third quarter, Karl-Anthony Towns crumpled to the floor with an apparent non-contact injury as he was running back up the court following a made jumper by Kyle Kuzma. Towns was helped off the court and did not put any pressure on his leg as he exited into the locker room.

The injury that has impeded their progress most has been the calf strain that Karl-Anthony Towns endured in Washington on November 28th. Originally diagnosed as a four-to-six week recovery period, Towns has yet to make his return to the court. On Saturday, the injury update delivered to the Minnesota fanbase was anything but encouraging.
